17 Event Handling
BlueX 2.0 offers an interface for users to define and handle events required by third party
applications. An intuitive AT command interface allows easy definition and management of simple
events while providing the flexibility for advanced event management.
For better understanding of the management interface, we provide a set of definitions for the key
concepts.
Figure 1 provides a visual diagram of the relationships between the concepts defined below.
Figure 1 Event composition
• Event: An event is composed of a Trigger and an Action to be taken once the Trigger’s
condition is satisfied.
An Event ID is the unique identifier which serves as an index to the list of events in the
system.
A dedicated Event Register per event is available to hold a logical value, TRUE when
the event is triggered and FALSE otherwise. The Event Register can be used directly as
a Signal in Trigger expressions of other Events. This allows for the concatenation of
events and creation of complex events.
The user can control the behavior of the Event’s Register using the following Register
Options:
a. Synchronized: When the Event is triggered the Register will become TRUE and
will remain TRUE as long as the Trigger’s condition is TRUE. Once the Trigger’s
logical expression becomes FALSE, the Register will become FALSE until the
next time the Event is triggered
b. TRUE for a specified Time: When the Event is triggered the Register will
become TRUE and will remain TRUE until the specified time expires. If before
the time expires the Event is triggered again, the expiry time is reset and the
Register remains TRUE until it times out.
• Trigger: A Trigger is defined through a logical expression that evaluates to TRUE or
FALSE. Trigger Options control how and when the Trigger influences the related Event:
The Event is said to be triggered and the related Action is taken once the Event’s Trigger
expression evaluates to TRUE and the Trigger Options are satisfied.
The Trigger’s logical expression is formed out of one or more Signals that are combined
using logical operators like AND (&), OR (|)…etc
The Following Trigger Options describe how and when an Event is triggered:
a. Rising edge: When the logical expression transitions from FALSE to TRUE
